Fox News viewers are less informed than people who don’t watch any news, according to a new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The poll surveyed New Jersey residents about the uprisings in Egypt and the Middle East, and where they get their news sources. The study, which controlled for demographic factors like education and partisanship, found that “people who watch Fox News are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government” and “6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government” compared to those who watch no news.
Overall, 53% of all respondents knew that Egyptians successfully overthrew Hosni Mubarak and 48% knew that Syrians have yet to overthrow their government.
Dan Cassino, a political science professor at Fairleigh Dickinson, explained in a statement, “Because of the controls for partisanship, we know these results are not just driven by Republicans or other groups being more likely to watch Fox News. Rather, the results show us that there is something about watching Fox News that leads people to do worse on these questions than those who don’t watch any news at all.”

The BBC has been inundated with complaints about explicit homosexual love scenes in its blockbuster sci-fi drama Torchwood.
More than 500 viewers complained directly to the broadcaster about ‘soft porn’ scenes in Thursday’s episode, which they said were ‘pointless’, irrelevant to the plot and out of place in a sci-fi show.
Dozens of fans vented their fury online and several have vowed to boycott the BBC1 show.
Despite the complaints the BBC has still made the programme available via its iPlayer service and it is planning to repeat it on BBC2 tomorrow night.
One viewer wrote online: ‘This show is meant to be a sci-fi show. I had to turn it off as my grandson, an avid sci-fi fan, was in the room.
‘I am sure both myself and others are disgusted at last night’s show. Leave the gay scenes for the programmes more suited – not sci-fi.’
Another accused the BBC of turning the show into ‘gay porn’ and a third wrote: ‘The homosexual content is totally out of proportion and so we have decided not to watch any more.’
Torchwood – an anagram of Doctor Who, from which it is a spin-off – charts the adventures of a team of sci-fi investigators led by Captain Jack Harkness, a time-travelling adventurer who is ‘pan-sexual’ and who is played by actor John Barrowman, himself gay.

Was hard not to write ‘straight, liberal’ people. But it seriously seems that people just assume this campaign is about being nicer to gay people. WRONG.
The NOH8 Campaign is a silent protest photo project against California Proposition 8. The campaign features photographs portraying people in front of a white backdrop wearing white t-shirts, their mouths taped shut and “NOH8″ painted on their cheek.
So, it is just focused on legislation in California about gay marriage. This is NOT a campaign that gives money across the country for gay marriage initiatives across the U.S. It is only based in California. And as for where the money goes………FUCK NOWS. But at least 60% goes on ‘Admin’, whatever the hell that is.
And some people think marriage has worth and religious history. We call them dumb christians. But that does not mean they individually hate the gays. It is their churches, and maybe they should actually get info about what the legislation is, AS IN GAY RIGHTS ARE CONNECTED WITH MARRIAGE IN THE U.S. But you cannot talk with your mouth taped shut.
And the images themselves? Have never seen a NOH8 photo of a fat person, or one with pimples, or anyone not looking totally perfect. Are all gay people and their supporters perfect? Too bad if you are not a perfect ‘gay’. You are not represented here.
And you have to pay to get a photo done, unless you are perfect…..
