AND SING WE SHALL OVERCOME. BLESS.
After arriving at Columbus Circle, the musicians were joined by Arlo Guthrie, son of Woody Guthrie and himself a folk singer associated with protest movements.
Pete Seeger, the 92-year-old folk music legend, joined Occupy Wall Street protesters on Friday night, ending a 30-block march with a performance of “We Shall Overcome.”
Following a performance with other musicians at Symphony Space on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Seeger walked with roughly 1,000 singing and chanting demonstrators down to Columbus Circle.
Among the favored tunes was “This Little Light of Mine,” made famous by Seeger and other protest singers decades ago.
