Sigh.

Radio DJ Dominic Harvey is facing a hail of criticism over a ‘sexist’ tweet saying it’s hardly ever a good idea for women to rap.

First Ross Goodwin, Now Kevin Black. Was in the radio industry for years.

READ MORE HERE.

He got off a ship in London one day in the 60s, went to a pub and met a bloke who knew a bloke in pirate radio and that was the beginning of his radio career, but I got that from the clips because I wasn’t about to ask. He seemed quite keen on the idea that we stay until 4pm (it was 11am) and get on the gin, but he’s always had more stamina than normal people and being 67 doesn’t seem to have slowed him down much.

He is, like many ageing rock’n'rollers, conservative, and Conservative. He said, when giving me his address: “Bwing a Wange Wover.” He lives in Victoria Ave, in Remmers. That was a terrible joke. He might be a bit embarrassed about the rebel rock DJ having ended up on Vickie Ave. I don’t know about that either, because at first he said, yes, a bit, probably, and then he said, “I guess I’m proud of it as an achievement but I don’t want it to be a measurement, right?”

Always sad when people lose jobs. And Sport gets a stronger foot hold on NZ society as if it actually means anything.

Dominic Harvey Gives A Listener AIDS/HIV.

therealstevegray.com

Oh, no, sorry, that was a joke. Of course Dom did not give anyone HIV/AIDS. That would not be funny. But joking about getting HIV/AIDS from Dom apparently is not offensive, according to the Broadcasting Standards Authority………

The Broadcasting Standards Authority has not received any appeals over its decision not to uphold a complaint against a text read out on radio station The Edge that “Dom, your song was so gay I’m pretty sure I just got AIDS from listening to it”.
The Authority ruled that while “some listeners would have considered the connection made between homosexuals and AIDS to be offensive and in poor taste” in light of The Edge’s target audience and their expectations of content on station, “the potential harm to listeners did not outweigh the broadcaster’s right to freedom of expression”.
The BSA added that it believed the content of the text message was directed at the host’s song and was not intended as a criticism of homosexuality or as an attack against homosexual people.

Right, so no harm no foul because the radio stations listeners are moronic and ignorant nongs who expect to hear foul jokes from hosts? that is how the decision reads to me. And they have freedom of expression to say what they want in a humorous way? And where was the constantly monogomous Mike peru when this shit was being said? OK, people who read this blog expect me to have no intelligence or feelings when I am angry over an attack to gay people so here is my ‘joke’ about the people that host this show……

J.J. CAN’T HAVE A BABY BECAUSE GOD HATES HER.

JUST JOKING. I have known for years that people find things funny until they become too close to home. The jokes from The Edge are always about gay people. And just because you have a ‘house homo’ on the show does not make these jokes O.K.

I feel dirty having written about these unfunny, hateful fucks, so here is one of my favourite scenes about radio, from ‘Radio Days’.

UPDATE – Just thought of another gay joke…..

GAY PEOPLE BY LAW CANNOT ADOPT. AND NOT ALL OF US ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A DRUGGIE BROTHER IN PRISON SO WE GET TO RAISE THEIR CHILD…………………..

My sides are splitting.

SkyCity So Bad They Have To Bribe Kiwi TV Stars And ‘Journalists’ To Eat There.

newstalkzb.co.nz

Well, the service and food is awful at Sky so no surprise they have to pay people to eat there. But what a strange mix of talent up for sale they have assembled…..

SkyCity is paying tens of thousands of dollars for the services and star-power of some of the country’s biggest celebrity names.

Mike Hosking has done regular work for the casino, and Paul Henry has a “long-standing association” with it. SkyCity sponsors several big-name sports stars and provides a ‘chairman’s card’ for a small number of celebrities allowing them free five-star hotel rooms, meals and drinks.

The relationship is a win-win for all involved, but is rarely spoken about. Some of the famous faces perform MC or promotional duties; other ‘ambassadors’ just have to be seen in the casino’s 25 bars and restaurants.

Former Warriors captain Steve Price has a lucrative private sponsorship contract with the casino complex. The Breakers basketball team also eat and drink there, as part of a separate sponsorship scheme.

SkyCity chief executive Nigel Morrison was a frequent guest on Paul Henry’s RadioLive drive time show. But Henry’sNew Zealand employer, MediaWorks, said the company was aware of his links to the casino and expected transparency.

“We are aware that there is a long-standing association between Paul Henry and SkyCity,” a spokeswoman said. “All MediaWorks staff are required to declare potential conflicts of interest of either a business or personal nature.

“Where these do exist, they are carefully managed so that our editorial integrity is not compromised – and this was the case during the time Paul was with Radio Live.”

Henry is based in Sydney where he hosts Channel 10′s breakfast show. Neither he nor Hosking, who is said to MC at the casino and do other corporate work, returned calls.

Hosking’s primary employer, the Radio Network, did not return calls. Megan Richards, spokeswoman for TVNZ where Hosking fills in as Close Up host, said by email: “I know nothing about SkyCity’s programme. I’m not aware of any of our employees being a part of it. Mike is a contractor with us.”

Hosking is a big fan of the restaurants at SkyCity, as shown by his online Tweets.

March 10: “We went to Dine by Peter Gordon at the Sky Grand … new menu he’s on fire.” March 16: “Just been for the pre Close Up dinner at Depot, Al’s got some awesome new stuff on the menu he’s a genius.”
