Mickey Rourke ‘has plastic surgery’ to play Gareth Thomas in biopic
Mickey Rourke is taking his new film role so seriously that he’s apparently had surgery on his eyes so that he can look more like rugby star Gareth Thomas.
Rourke has already shed two stone in preparation for the role as the gay former Wales player and has hired personal trainer Nick McKinless, who got Ralph Fiennes fighting fit for Coriolanus, to help him get into shape.
But the Oscar-nominated Wrestler actor may go a step further and have an operation to look more like the Welshman, who is 22 years his junior.
Producer Colin Vaines said that the 22-year age difference between Mickey and Gareth doesn’t matter.
‘When Mickey’s committed, as he is with this, he can do anything,’ he said. ‘The age isn’t a problem.’
