Fonterra has been fined $50,000 and ordered to pay $12,500 in reparation to an employee who had part of a finger amputated by a cheese packaging machine that Fonterra had twice been advised needed better guarding.
The accident, at Fonterra’s Eltham cheese processing factory in April 2011, happened when the female worker cleared a jam in the machine.
Unaware the machine was set to reactivate, she put her arm in to clear wrapping from clamps when they closed on her middle finger and amputated the tip, the Department of Labour said.
As they care nothing for the NZ environment, and they have been asked to help with THEIR pollution and do nothing, why would you think they would care, let alone protect their workers. Profits are all for these soulless assholes.

The Commerce Commission says it will not hold an inquiry into the price of milk.
The commission said after reviewing domestic milk markets it found there was no valid basis for price controls, saying enough rivalry exists between the two main supermarket chains while for wholesale milk, Fonterra and Goodman Fielder compete for supplies.
“Overall our analysis shows that the level of competition, taking into account existing regulation arrangements means that intervention under Part 4 of the Commerce Act is not possible,” said chairman Mark Berry.
Fonterra said it had yet to read the commission’s decision and would comment later.
