The Night Billy Connolly came to see me do comedy
I never thought I would ever write those words down in a blog but here I am. Let me take you back a bit, when I was growing up in Glasgow in the 70s and my dad let me hear an LP vinyl recording of Glasgow comic Billy Connolly- I have been hooked and love the man ever since. His story telling style hooked me and made me really interested in comedy.
When I went into comedy at the age of 35, the first press reaction was “Janey Godley is like discovering an early Billy Connolly” I was touched but a tad embarrassed in case the great man ever read that and was annoyed, as if he ever read about me? What a dick I am.
Anyway I have followed his career and been totally in love with his style and always regarded him as the best comic I have ever known. So I land in Wellington New Zealand for the Comedy festival to learn that the Big Man is in town and was staying in the same hotel as me and Ashley.

I adore this story from Janey. I also find it strange two such funny fucks, both from Scotland had never meet before. I suppose I thought Scotland was like the gay community and they all knew each other. Anyhoo, janey hits Auckland now at the Comedy Festival so go and see her. She is the bees knees in honest, funny as a fit comedy. True class.

The Queen of Scottish comedy is back with a brand new hour on her 4th tour to the NZ International Comedy Festival.
Its not hard to understand the comparisons with Billy Connolly. Janey Godley is also from Glasgow, has a colourful vocabulary, tells wild rambling stories about her misadventures and has a love affair with New Zealand audiences. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the NZ International Comedy Festival we have invited Janey back to perform a brand new hour at Wellingtons San Francisco Bathhouse (Apr 30 to May 5) and The Classic in Auckland (May 14 to 19)
Janeys new show is titled The Godley Hour. She has been at the epicentre of yet more extraordinary events, personal disasters and strange-but-true happenings. GOD I HATE P.C. FEMNAZIS TELLING PEOPLE WHAT TO SAY. THEY CAN NEVER SUPPORT THEIR PISS WEAK ARGUMENTS. SO WHEN SOMEONE BRIGHT LIKE JANEY IS SHAT ON FROM THEM, PREPARE FOR WAR. HERE IS THE STORY IN JANEYS OWN WORDS, WHICH I READ IN HER SEXY SCOTTISH ACCENT…….
so here’s how I was abused by a children’s charity- on twitter Hillhouse Care which is based in Kilmarnock http://www.hillhousecare.org/
Now I dont mind abuse online from individuals but this was from a kids charity.
The other night I got into a debate with a ‘feminist’ who owned Mckee Constultants and she with another charity worker from The Sky Project also in Kilmarnock (whom I was a patron that is now something I need to decide on) had an extensive go at me as I say CUNT on twitter. Mckee the feminist decided I needed to explain myself to her, as you can imagine that did not go well. Anyway- I was left feeling rotten about The Sky Project as they waded into the debate and I blocked them. So out of the blue @hillhousecare1 sent that nasty tweet and I traced back their conversations and they all had dealings with Sky Project and Mckee consultants- so it wasnt a hacker. Then after Hill House Care got emails and tweets about their position as a charity abusing someone online- they creamed “Cyber bullying” that very thing I hate when someone is confronted about their behaviour and then become the victim. I have never pretended to be a childs role model or been vague about my outspokeness- I am making offical complaint to both charities and will be viewing feminism differently in future.
I LOVE THE WORD ‘CUNT’. AND IT IS NOW TRENDING ON TWITTER. BLESS THE LANGUAGE NAZIS. AND GOOD ON JANEY FOR STANDING UP TO PEOPLE WHO MIS-USE TWITTER ACCOUNTS. NOW, GO AND TWEET #CUNT.
