Of course Jennifer Hudson should play her. She can sing, she can act and she is cool. 3 things Halle is not, and shall never be able to do.
Though she’s made comments that she didn’t think she would be best for the part, it seems Halle Berry is still in contention to star in a film about the life of soul legend Aretha Franklin. Franklin herself confirmed speculation about Berry’s potential participation in the biopic while speaking with Macleans magazine. The Queen of Soul said, “Halle Berry is back in the game,” following a recent run-in.
Franklin said, “I just saw her at the curtain of Oprah’s farewell event, and she let me know that she still wants to play the role.” The Oscar-winning actress previously shared trepidation about playing Aretha given she couldn’t sing. Aretha says that won’t be an issue. She explained, “She didn’t know that she wasn’t expected to sing. I told her, ‘No, we never expected you to sing; we already knew you weren’t a singer!’ But I do think she could pull it off though.”
Berry has played lip sync for a role before, for her Emmy-award-winning performance as Dorothy Dandridge in Introducing Dorothy Dandrige. The Aretha movie, which is still in development, will be based on the singer’s 1999 autobiography, Aretha: From the Roots. Other actresses being considered for the role include singers Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson.
The surprisingly nasty custody battle royale between Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry just got another statement added to its file. Gabriel has responded to Halle’s claims that she’s concerned about leaving their daughter Nahla with him alone.
Halle Berry claims her baby daddy Gabriel Aubry is a crazed, jealous man who put their child at risk.
“While Gabriel is disappointed in Halle’s decision to falsely malign him publicly and for her own purposes, he refuses to be pulled into her dispute over a canceled film production. Gabriel also refuses to air their issues in the press as he believes this may ultimately harm their daughter. The fact is that Gabriel is a caring father who shares custody of Nahla.
Gabriel fully believes that a consistent and balanced living situation and two loving parents are crucial for their child even if Ms. Berry feels otherwise. He will always defend his rights as a father and will always consider Nahla’s best interest. Halle’s continuing allegations in the press are untrue and irresponsible.”
She canceled a movie role to focus on the ‘battle’.
Won’t take sides, except to say Halle’s a useless actor.
Just get naked, no talent. ‘Make me feel better’. ha!
The genius’ that brought us The Matrix, the Wachowskis, have returned! They will be directing the adaptation of Cloud Atlas, based on David Mitchell’s novel about a series of characters that find their destinies intertwined.
While at the NAACP Image Awards, Halle Berry confirmed that she would be in the film! Rumored to be joining her are
Tom Hanks, James McAvoy and Natalie Portman.
Aretha Franklin wants Halle Berry to show her some R-E-S-P-E-C-T and sign on to portray a younger version of the Queen of Soul in an upcoming biopic.
The 68-year-old singing legend sent out a press release this week revealing her choices for Hollywood stars to play top roles in a planned film about her life and career.
Besides Berry, Franklin says she wants another Academy Award winner – Denzel Washington – to play her father, the late C.L. Franklin, a prominent Baptist minister and civil rights leader in Detroit.
Her wish list also includes Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard as Motown star Smokey Robinson.
The movie, for which Franklin says she’ll be reviewing the script next week, will be based on her autobiography, “Aretha: From These Roots,” a best-seller a decade ago.
Messages seeking comment were left by The Associated Press on Friday for representatives of Berry, Washington and Howard.
In her release, Franklin says the actors in question are “enthusiastic about the project and have agreed to take on these roles, subject to further negotiation.”
The statement says Washington, for one, “was very interested in the role,” and Franklin “also had a very positive response from her in-person conversations with Terrence Howard and others.”
Franklin is one of the most honored musicians in American history, having won numerous Grammys, including a lifetime achievement award; the National Medal of Arts; the Presidential Medal of Freedom and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
