Cancer Research Money Needs To be Directed Towards Prevention And Control, Not Fantasy ‘Cures’.

Also money raised needs to go to research, not propping up the ‘cancer industry’.

“Simply put, we have not adequately channeled our scientific know-how, funding, and energy into a full exploration of the one path certain to save lives: prevention. That it should become the ultimate goal of cancer research has been recognized since the war on cancer began. When I look at NCI’s budget request for fiscal year 2012, I’m deeply disappointed, though past experience tells me I shouldn’t be surprised. It is business as usual at the nation’s foremost cancer research establishment. More than $2 billion is requested for basic research into the mechanism and causes of cancer. Another $1.3 billion is requested for treatment. And cancer prevention and control? It gets $232 million altogether. (Remarkably, in the very same budget report, the NCI states, “Much of the progress against cancer in recent decades has stemmed from successes in the areas of prevention and control.”)”

Media At Launch Of ‘WTF’ Seem To Miss The Point.

facebook.com

Well, there has seemingly been only one story so far in the media about the launch of the ‘WTF’ campaign, to end gay youth suicide, but not straight teens. This campaign is not about ending discrimination, it is about raising money for Rainbow Youth and Outline services. They should at least be honest about this from the start than do some ‘KONY2012′ ‘clickactivism’ con that donating to these groups will end discrimination in NZ.

There is talk about discrimination, but the examples are we cannot marry, (marriage is not a right), Doctors don’t understand your want to transition, (get a better doctor), and gay teens are far more likely to top themselves that straight teens. There is also no word on how we end discrimination, or why we are meant to be nice to the GLT people. Well, they are being raised in a ‘straight’ world, and are now having ‘heteronormative’ behaviour forced on them as the accepted norm for gay people. We are not like you. campaigns may try to push we are not different but we are. because everyday the world tells us we are different and it is hard to ignore……

So lets be honest. This campaign is about making money for underfunded services for gay youth. It is not aimed at gay youth, or actually gay people at all. If it was, this would have worked better for honesty……

Straight people who are getting very angry with me for daring to question their huge help for the pathetic homos keep asking what I would have done. Well, I would have got John Waters to make it, and just point out the truth….
