National Party To Control Poor Peoples Reproduction.

annemariemink.nl

Wow. So they have decided poor people should have free female birth control…….

Women on benefits – including teenagers and the daughters of beneficiaries – will be offered free long-term contraception as part of a $287.5 million Budget package for the Government’s welfare reforms.

But critics say the measure borders on state control of women’s reproductive choices.

Social Development Minister Paula Bennett and Prime Minister John Key announced the package yesterday, aimed at supporting beneficiaries to get into training or work.

It includes $1 million to pay for long-term contraception measures such as implants or intra-uterine devices.

The payment for contraception will be offered to teenagers on benefits from July. From October, it will be offered to all women on benefits, and their daughters aged 16 to 19.

Yesterday, Ms Bennett said the funding for the reforms would be heavily targeted at youth and teen parents, who were most at risk of staying on benefits long term and having more children while on welfare.

I do hope that Paula realizes that if this option had been around when she was on the dole she may never have given birth to her child who likes having sex with gang members. And being beaten up by them. And that is her right. Why is it only females being forced to use contraception? Surely it is a hell of a lot easier to give away condoms, and also lower HIV/STI infection rates. Why are woman always expected to be in ‘charge’ of contraception? Will this stop at the poor? Will some other ‘group’ become under the spotlight as ‘undesirable to breed’? Can stupid people be sterilized soon? Would a group of ‘stupid’ include Paula Bennett? they are saying it is voluntary but you can be assured pressure will come to bear on these teens girls to take the pill. And where will this type of social engineering end? What has new Zealand become?

Russia Violates Human Rights – Again.

FREE ELECTIONS IN RUSSIA – YEAH RIGHT.

The leader of Russia’s only independent election monitor was detained for several hours, in a move she described as government pressure on the group ahead of Sunday’s parliamentary vote.

Golos leader Lilya Shibanova was held at Moscow’s main airport after refusing to hand over her laptop “for checking”.

On Friday, the group was fined for allegedly violating election law.

Russian MPs have questioned why Golos, a foreign-funded organisation, is allowed to monitor Russian elections.

Golos (meaning “voice” or “vote” in English) is a widely respected election watchdog funded by the EU and US. It provides training for observers and runs a website compiling complaints of voting violations.

AND THIS GIVES CLARITY AS TO WHY IT HAPPENED…

Widespread dismay with United Russia threatens to undermine the party’s control of Russia and authorities are clearly nervous, including applying strong pressure on the country’s only independent election-monitoring group.

The group, Golos, has compiled some 5,300 complaints of election-law violations ahead of the vote. Most are linked to United Russia, the party headed by Putin, who has dominated Russian politics for a dozen years as president and prime minister.

Roughly a third of the complainants — mostly government employees and students — say employers and professors are pressuring them to vote for the party.

Golos’ leader, Lilya Shibanova, was held at a Moscow airport for 12 hours upon her Friday return from Poland after refusing to give her laptop computer to security officers, said Golos’ deputy director Grigory Melkonyants. On Friday, the group was fined the equivalent of $1,000 by a Moscow court for violating a law that prohibits publication of election opinion research for five days before a vote.

Cops Accused Of Trapping Wall Street Protesters On Brooklyn Bridge For Mass Arrests

therealstevegray.com

I LOVE THE NASTINESS OF THIS PIECE FROM ‘USA TODAY’ TELLING A DIFFERENT STORY FROM WHAT THE PROTESTERS DO……….

The collection of people in tie-dyed T-shirts and star-spangled underwear have been camped out in a granite plaza in lower Manhattan nearly two weeks — and show no signs of going away.

Police prepare to arrest demonstrators affiliated with the Occupy Wall Street movement after they attempted to cross the Brooklyn Bridge on the motorway on

They sleep on air mattresses, use Mac laptops and play drums. They go to the bathroom at the local McDonald’s. A few times a day, they march down to Wall Street, yelling, “This is what democracy looks like!”

It all has the feel of a classic street protest with one exception: It’s unclear exactly what the demonstrators want.

“When all the bailout money was spent on bonuses and stuff everyone was outraged, but no one did anything because no one feels like they can,” protester Jesse Wilson, 22, said this week when asked to take articulate the cause. “It’s time for us to come together to realize we are the masses, and we can make things happen.”

But he couldn’t say what, exactly, he wanted to happen. Handmade signs carried by some of the demonstrators — “Less is More” and “Capitalism is evil” — hardly make it clearer.

On Saturday, the group shut down part of the Brooklyn Bridge when they spilled onto the roadway from Manhattan in one of their many marches. Police arrested dozens while trying to clear the road and reopen for traffic.

But does it matter that the protest is vague?

Academics and longtime activists give varying opinions.

“A lot of this revolves around economic justice, who gets what in this society, who has a safety net, who doesn’t and how much corporate influence exists in Washington,” said Bill Dobbs, an activist involved in the 2004 demonstrations at the Republican National Convention, and many others.

Dobbs and others say the group’s lack of specificity serves a purpose because it invites outrage over a full spectrum of societal grievances. Indeed, some demonstrators say they are against Wall Street greed, others say they are protesting global warming and still others say they are protesting “the man.”

THIS IS FROM FRIDAY. IS NOT A ‘SMALL’ PROTEST AND THE MEDIA NEED TO COVER THIS.
