A new DeLorean model is to be launched, almost 30 years after the last one rolled off the production line at the ill-fated factory near Belfast.
While it will retain its distinctive silver gull-wing design, this new version will run on electricity.
DeLorean CEO Stephen Wynne said their intent was to bring back that classic design into the future.
“The exterior is so iconic that we didn’t want to mess with it,” he said.
“Basically, we took out all of the combustion engine, components and transmission, and replaced that with battery packs and an electric motor.
“As soon as electric cars became popular again, it seemed that the obvious thing that needed to happen was to make an electric DeLorean.

Melrose Place star Amy Locane-Bovenizer has been indicted on charges stemming from a fatal car crash, TMZ.com reports.
In June, Fred and Helene Seeman, both 60, were pulling into their driveway in Montgomery, N.J., in June when a 2007 Chevy Tahoe driven by Locane sideswiped their 2010 Mercury Milan, prosecutors said. Mrs. Seeman was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband was airlifted to a hospital and later discharged.
Locane-Bovenizer, 38, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated because officers reported smelling alcohol on her breath and that they believed she was impaired. They said she admitted she had been drinking earlier that night.She was then charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by automobile following the crash.
On Thursday, Locane-Bovenizer was indicted on charges of aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto. If convicted, she could face 10-30 years behind bars for the first charge, and 5-10 for the second.

Calls to her lawyer were not immediately returned, although the attorney, Blair Zwillman, expressed surprise to People that an aggravated manslaughter charge was included, saying: “I don’t think it’s appropriate. We are going to fiercely defend it.”
Before the collision, Locane-Bovenizer was involved in a hit-and-run in Princeton in which she rear-ended another vehicle and fled the scene, prosecutors said.The victim followed the actress and witnessed her swerving and running over mailboxes, according to prosecutors.
“Ms. Locane was followed by … individuals for nearly four miles at high speeds,” Zwillman said. “The woman who followed her chased her right into the accident scene.”
The actress, whose films include Cry-Baby, Airheads and School Ties, was credited as Amy Locane before she married Mark Bovenizer.
