Clive Davis (pictured), the man who discovered or signed such musical icons as Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys, revealed to talk show host Katie Couric on her eponymous show on Tuesday that he is in fact a bisexual, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Davis even admitted to the former news reporter that he has had two relationships with women and is still attracted to them stating, “You don’t have to be only one thing or another. For me, it’s the person.”

Armstrong has identified himself as bisexual, saying in a 1995 interview with The Advocate, “I think I’ve always been bisexual. I mean, it’s something that I’ve always been interested in. I think people are born bisexual, and it’s just that our parents and society kind of veer us off into this feeling of ‘Oh, I can’t.’ They say it’s taboo. It’s ingrained in our heads that it’s bad, when it’s not bad at all. It’s a very beautiful thing.” In a later interview for Out magazine’s April 2010 issue, Armstrong stated: “There were a lot of people who didn’t accept it, who were homophobic.” Armstrong continued, saying, “The fact that it’s an issue is kind of phobic within itself. At some point, you gotta think, this should be something that’s just accepted.” Armstrong added: “I don’t really classify myself as anything. And when it comes to sex, there are parts of me that are very shy and conservative. I want to respect my wife.”

Kevin Sessums follows up with Cynthia Nixon, who made headlines recently for telling the NYT’s Alex Witchel that for her, being gay “is a choice”. Sessums asks about her previous 15-year relationship with a man, and her current relationship with Christine Marinoni:
I’m a bit confused. Were you a lesbian in a heterosexual relationship? Or are you now a heterosexual in a lesbian relationship? That quote seemed like you were fudging a bit.
It’s so not fudging. It’s so not. I think for gay people who feel 100 percent gay, it doesn’t make any sense. And for straight people who feel 100 percent straight, it doesn’t make any sense. I don’t pull out the “bisexual” word because nobody likes the bisexuals. Everybody likes to dump on the bisexuals.

Nixon then repeats the assertion that it’s fine to say homosexuality is her choice, because to say it’s not a choice would be caving to the bigots:
I understand for political reasons why some people want to kind of squelch this idea that being gay might be a choice, because a lot of the rights we want are posited on the supposition that why are you denying me my rights any more than if I were created a different color? But I don’t feel the need to cede the definition of what a gay person is to the bigots. They don’t get to define who I am.

In an interview about her new Broadway show, a revival of the Margaret Edson play Wit, Cynthia Nixon tells the NYT’s Alex Witchel that for her being gay is a choice, and nobody’s going to take that belief from her:
“I gave a speech recently, an empowerment speech to a gay audience, and it included the line ‘I’ve been straight and I’ve been gay, and gay is better.’ And they tried to get me to change it, because they said it implies that homosexuality can be a choice. And for me, it is a choice. I understand that for many people it’s not, but for me it’s a choice, and you don’t get to define my gayness for me. A certain section of our community is very concerned that it not be seen as a choice, because if it’s a choice, then we could opt out. I say it doesn’t matter if we flew here or we swam here, it matters that we are here and we are one group and let us stop trying to make a litmus test for who is considered gay and who is not. As you can tell, I am very annoyed about this issue. Why can’t it be a choice? Why is that any less legitimate? It seems we’re just ceding this point to bigots who are demanding it, and I don’t think that they should define the terms of the debate. I also feel like people think I was walking around in a cloud and didn’t realize I was gay, which I find really offensive. I find it offensive to me, but I also find it offensive to all the men I’ve been out with.”

SIR ELTON JOHN has named JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE as his “number one” choice to star in his upcoming biopic. The veteran musician is moving forward with plans to turn his life story into a major movie-musical with help from his film producer partner David Furnish and Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall. The Rocketman movie will tell the story of the star’s life and career through his music and Sir Elton has now revealed he wants pop star Timberlake, who previously played the singer in one of his music videos, to tackle the lead role. He tells the Los Angeles Times, “(It is) very much in the works. We’re making an announcement about that very, very soon. We have a director on board, and then it’s just going to be a matter of getting the script exactly the way we want it… “I’ve got a wish list of people (for the lead role). Number one on my wish list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video… and was superb.”
