John Forde Really Wants A Gay All Black To Have A Gay Marriage To Accomplish What?

HIS ORIGINAL FULL STORY HERE.

Under this opening paragraph…..

Mike Lee’s extraordinarily obtuse article in the Herald this week ignores the importance of rugby in Kiwi culture and the fight for gay rights. John Forde explains why the time is perfect for rugby to come out of the closet

John Fore then spends an awful lot of time praising the All Blacks and totally changing a discussion, which was about tackling gay bigotry into one all about marriage equality. As if the two differences between the Civil Union act and the Marriage Act are not easily remedied legally.

Here is the original story he is ‘commenting on, and as you can see no mention of marriage equality AT ALL.

New Zealand’s struggle for gay rights has advanced in leaps and bounds in recent years. Ten years ago, gay rights were of interest only to the gay and lesbian “minority” who were directly affected. Now, issues like marriage equality and homophobic bullying appear to have caught the national imagination.

So it all started with this Sunday Star Times story.

And I responded with this.

And more importantly this.

This silly story calls me a sports presenter. Wrong.

This story is out of date.

This Spanish story has the best photo.

This is good from the Gay Star News.

The Japan Times.

Not sure what this site is.

Dated story from Out Sports.

And Yahoo News.

BUT I LIKED THIS PIECE FROM ESPN MOST….

Gray has since suggested that such is the all-encompassing nature of the rugby culture in New Zealand, it may ‘not be a place a gay man would want to be.’ But what a statement it would be if a leading player from the world’s most famous team would follow the lead of former Wales and Lions star Gareth Thomas and admit they were gay – especially when so many other high profile sports continually fail to tackle the issue and as a result discourage sportsmen to come out.

Common sense suggests that many gay men have played international rugby and are currently doing so now. It is a shame that fear of reprisal, ridicule or even loss of commercial income would prevent them from coming out. They, like Thomas, may find support where they expected isolation. But you fear there is more chance of Wales hosting their World Cup clash with England than an All Black breaking cover.

WHAT A SWEET DREAM INDEED.
