I was incredibly annoyed when the nominations for Best Animated Feature were announced for the Academy Awards this year, and ‘Cloudy, With a Chance of Meatballs’ had not been nominated. It is a fantastic film, and was easily as good as the films that were nominated.

Based on a book I had never heard of or read, ‘Cloudy’ is a film that will keep the kids quiet, but, more importantly is great entertainment for everybody, nor do you need to be a fan of animation to enjoy it. The animation verges on cartoony, and the film has a knowing thread for adults, without alienating the kids watching.

One of the big appeals of the film is the whole food raining from the sky. This leads to some amazing animated sequences that really must be seen to be believed. If you missed the film at the cinema, or were unsure about the quality, do not hesitate to watch this fantastic, thrilling film.
