How do I message a friend on their phone?
When you see the icon next to a friend’s name in the chat sidebar, messages will be sent to their phone.

Remember, you and your friend can access all your chats and messages as one seamless conversation, wherever you log into Facebook.

How do I know if a friend has seen a message I sent?
When someone sees your most recent message, it will be marked as seen. That way, you always know who got the message, and who didn’t.

Messages are marked as seen if the person is actively chatting or checking their messages.

This feature is part of every message you send, whether it’s from your phone or the web.

How do I control who can message me on Facebook?
You control who can see you on chat, who can message you on Facebook, and who can send you email.

Who sees you on chat
By default, all your friends can see you on chat. If you only want to chat with a few select friends, simply:
Click the icon at the bottom of the chat sidebar and select Advanced Settings…
Choose friends (or lists of friends) you want to be available to on chat
You can also go offline to someone while you’re chatting with them. At the top of your chat window, click the icon and select Go Offline to X. Learn more about advanced chat settings.

Who can send you Facebook messages and email
By default, anyone on Facebook can send you a message, and anyone outside of Facebook can email you at your “username@facebook.com.” Messages and email all go to your Facebook Messages.

To edit who can message you, simply:
Click the account menu at the top right of any Facebook page and choose Privacy Settings.
Next to the How You Connect heading, click Edit Settings.
Select your preference from the dropdown menu next to Who can send you Facebook messages?
Note: Changes to the “Who can message me” privacy setting may take up to 24 hours to take effect.

Florida teenager Trayvon Martin died from a single gunshot wound to the chest fired from “intermediate range,” according to an autopsy report reviewed Wednesday by NBC News.
The official report, prepared by the medical examiner in Volusia County, Fla., also found that the 17-year-old Martin had one other fresh injury – a small abrasion, no more than a quarter-inch in size – on his left ring finger below the knuckle.

Separately, a medical report on Martin’s alleged killer, 28-year-old George Zimmerman, prepared by his personal physician the day after Martin’s shooting in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26, found that the Neighborhood Watch volunteer suffered a likely broken nose, swelling, two black eyes and cuts to the scalp. That report, first reported Tuesday by ABC News, also was reviewed by NBC News.
