The Time Lord’s most deadly foes will return in the upcoming seventh series, two years after being retired by show bosses so fans didn’t get tired of them.
In a new preview clip from the show, Matt Smith – who plays The Doctor – jokes: ”Give me a Dalek any day.”
Immediately after, an eye stalk belonging to a Dalek emerges from an icy landscape.
An army of Daleks are to be unleashed on the Doctor from every generation of he has previously faced, from the old style Daleks used in the 1970s and 1980s, to the flying models from 2005 and bulkier 2010 types.
Show chief Steven Moffat, 50, told Hot TV: ”We have every kind of Dalek coming back. Just wait and see.”
Images of the Daleks have been released by the BBC, revealing various parts of the antagonists including a gun, a broken plunger rumoured to be Dalek Sec and a World War II-era Dalek.
‘Doctor Who’ will return in the autumn for five episodes followed by a Christmas special and 2013 will see eight initial episodes followed by a round of TV specials to mark the 50th anniversary of the series.
Steven added: ”Next year is a great year to be a ‘Doctor Who’ fan.”
