Sir Ralph Hotere May Meet ‘White Drip’ In Heaven Tweets TVNZ’s Ruth Wynn-Williams.
Prominent New Zealanders, including the country’s highest-paid artist, Ralph Hotere, and some university academics are calling for Holmes’ resignation over his off-the-cuff remarks.
In 2003 Paul Holmes, who is one of the intellectual and ethical minnows who swim in the shallows of NZ public life, described the then UN Secretary General Kofi Annan (from Ghana) as a ‘Cheeky Darkie’. Hotere responded by creating a series of artworks including ‘White Drip to Mister Paul Holmes’.

Ruth Wynn-Williams – From one Sir to another. Perhaps the microphone and the paintbrush will meet again #hotere
and then posted the picture – ”White Drip To Mr Paul Holmes’. as if they shall be having gin slings in ‘heaven’ and talking the old days and their many fun filled days together. MSM really need to stop trying to connect every event that happens in this country to Holmes. Has gone beyond a joke now, to be a total fucking embarrassment.

Why New Zealanders allowed Paul Holmes to infect their living rooms year after year with his self important commentary on the news cycle was always a thing of wonder to me. On the other hand I never heard Ralph Hotere’s voice in my life: he chose to speak with grace purity and genius through his art. I cannot imagine the shade of Ralph Hotere pausing even momentarily to acknowledge what remains of Paul Holmes. If there is an afterlife there will be much better things to do. It may be the only thing Hotere and Holmes have in common is the first letter of their surnames.
