Well, there has seemingly been only one story so far in the media about the launch of the ‘WTF’ campaign, to end gay youth suicide, but not straight teens. This campaign is not about ending discrimination, it is about raising money for Rainbow Youth and Outline services. They should at least be honest about this from the start than do some ‘KONY2012′ ‘clickactivism’ con that donating to these groups will end discrimination in NZ.
There is talk about discrimination, but the examples are we cannot marry, (marriage is not a right), Doctors don’t understand your want to transition, (get a better doctor), and gay teens are far more likely to top themselves that straight teens. There is also no word on how we end discrimination, or why we are meant to be nice to the GLT people. Well, they are being raised in a ‘straight’ world, and are now having ‘heteronormative’ behaviour forced on them as the accepted norm for gay people. We are not like you. campaigns may try to push we are not different but we are. because everyday the world tells us we are different and it is hard to ignore……
So lets be honest. This campaign is about making money for underfunded services for gay youth. It is not aimed at gay youth, or actually gay people at all. If it was, this would have worked better for honesty……
Straight people who are getting very angry with me for daring to question their huge help for the pathetic homos keep asking what I would have done. Well, I would have got John Waters to make it, and just point out the truth….

This is Steve’s blog. This is his opinion. He is allowed to say and feel whatever he likes about anything he likes, as that is the purpose of a blog and also a basic human right. He doesn’t hide behind a pretend name or persona. Heart on the sleeve type thing – something I quite like. It’s fresh, it’s entertaining and as I may not always agree with him ( sometimes I have no fucking idea what he is talking about but I am living in the middle of the Australian desert – so have no real point of reference re: current NZ trends etc) , I respect his opinion……… I must say too – I don’t want any of my LGBT friends to sell out to someones elses ideal stereotype. If men like Steve are actively protesting being sorted into a nice hetro-friendly box, then good on them. You don’t have to agree with him and you don’t have to read it either. Think about this—>Who wants to read something that doesn’t provoke them – good or bad? Food for thought. xxlovesxx
For someone who apparently things there use of the word “fuck” was tacky and tasteless, you sure use some disgusting language on your site.
Yep…you sure did muddle this one Steve. Way to ostracize your own community.
I think the biggest shame of all is that if you had tried and not been so spiteful and quick to judge, you really could have been someone to help people and the community. What you have become those is something else entirely.
Steve your ignorance and intellectual laziness is epic. I was going to go through your post and address every stupid comment – but I don’t have time as there are too many of them, and I suspect I should just save my breath.
Suffice to say I think your criticism of WTF is ill-founded and petty. I second Paul’s invitation for you to Do something yourself.
This leaves me wondering what your complaint is. You seem to worry that this short clip only draws attention to a problem, without giving a full answer to it, and you have some muddled comments about the best way to deal with bad doctors is to find new doctors. You imply that gay suicidality has nothing to do with discrimination, and you say allowing straight but not gay marraige is not discrimination (because marriage is not a “right”).
Lots of gay people in the community refused to do the campaign in the first place. And then its our community thats the first to turn on it and say there arnt enough gays on camera. Speaks for itself really.
From what i have heard thats exactly what the next video is, community faces. This video (though half the people in it are queer) looks to be targeting the straight community. But i do beleive there is more stuff coming out. Sorry Steve though, i agree with below …your probably not the best advocate for these kind of campaigns.
Hi Steve, in regards to the blog you posted about the new WTF campaign, might want to check out the article on GayNZ that will have FAR MORE people reading about what a little snake in the grass you are than on here http://www.gaynz.com/blogs/bipolarbear/?p=339. Your article couldnt have had more incorrect info on it. If your going to slag people off at least get your facts right as just about EVERYTHING you said was complete fabrications. Though i can understand that doing things like upping the amount of donations Rainbow Youth received by 150K made your story sound better.
Also i was at the GABA charity event last year in which you not only objectified in front of an entire room full of people, but tried to get some rainbow youth (the operative word being YOUTH) kids to take their clothes off on stage. Causing one of them to later cry, which you will probably try and laugh off because i dont get the feeling your man enough to admit that was really bad form. Oh come to think of it we actually have you doing that on camera. Not a good look Steve, not a good look at all. Especially when its a terrified eighteen year old.
Also from what i can gleam from everything out there RY and Outline were completely open about the fact that they took inspiration from the FCKH8 campaign, regardless of if the campaign is successful or not your outing them on that just looks a little desperate – though i would call 55K hits in two days is pretty successful.
So all this combined with the flurry of lies you have managed to pull together on this campaign, which as far as i can see is actually trying to do some good, doesn’t lead me to believe your the best person to be pulling together a youth and discrimination campaign, or pulling one apart.
And you’ve stated you would do it better, and you would start by getting John Walters. I think anyone who reads this knows thats horse shit, you want to be an activist Steve? Seems like all you can do is pull together a nasty cock focused blog site to try and tear down other peoples ideas. But if you want to prove me wrong please put your money where your mouth is and go do something yourself, ill be the first to kiss your ass and sing your praises if it works.
Knowing you (as i do) im far more obliged to believe this was actually all formed out of jelousy because you weren’t invited to their launch party.
In closing this post is a public challenge to you. Go on Steve – DO SOMETHING. Make a campaign, rally for a cause, show us how you can do it better. I sincerely hope that you can, because im all for help on things like this, even from people like yourself. I suspect however this will just get a nasty reply, in which you shrug off everything i say. I do very much hope to be proven wrong.

To be charitable … Steve, you’re very muddled.

Steve Gray you have never done a thing for anyone except reinforce the idea in the public mind that homos are effeminate, bitchy, shallow and stupid.
