Mr Gay World Believes Homos Should Lose The Handbags And Stop Killing Themselves.
I missed this interview from Mr gay World on ‘Stuff last week, but this is the best bit…..
As part of his prize package, which includes swimwear, cosmetics and jewellery, Derleth was also awarded a $25,000 allowance to travel the world during his term.
And it’s money he’s hoping to put to good use because he wants to erase “the image of us [gay men] running around with handbags”.
“The role of Mr Gay World is to stand up for gay and human rights, which I’m very into. I want to use this to raise public awareness about gay rights and promote acceptance. There are still countries which have the death penalty if you’re gay.”
Oh dear. Where to start???? Why does he have an issue with people thinking ‘gays run around with handbags?’ As a Kiwi, that image makes me think of All Black assault and Tana Umanga hitting his fellow player with a hand bag in a Christchurch pub. I have no idea why Mr Gay World has issues with handbags. Nor why he wants to end that image ‘in peoples minds about gays with handbags’? Does he think all gay men should act butch now? If you are a gay man with a handbag, are you a bad gay? Are you a lesser gay because you have a handbag? What is he trying to say about gay behaviour? And what should be changed about it? And for what reasons? as a gay man, it is also MY right, Mr Gay World, to swing a bejewelled handbag IF I SO WISH
And more wisdom……..
“You will get some people who say things about gay people around young people and that behaviour possibly makes it hard for people to come out. We need to see people embracing it and not scaring them away.”
“There are many cases where young people are scared to come out, so I want to encourage them to get in touch with Rainbow Youth or organisations like that. You hear so many stories of young people who commit suicide and then you don’t know the reason why. It then comes out later that they were gay and they can’t deal with it.”
Well, no word from Mr Gay World on how he will stop gay youth suicide…….Is just pure empty rhetoric and stupidity. Sad. Just get depressed gay teens to watch this. True, funny, gay, and not scared of a simple handbag…….
