Leave ‘Public’ Bar Alone And Let’s End Gay Youth Suicide.

Gods, I am tired of MSM getting non-stories off social media and making them into a big deal as if ‘kissing in straight bars’ is actually an important issue facing gay people???? So some angry girls posted on Public’s Facebook page saying they were kicked out for pashing, complained and somehow this has become a ‘story that needs telling’. WRONGED WOMEN FEATURED HERE…..
Who to believe? Does it really, actually matter? This seems to be a 2 second piece of shit incident that happens in bars every night around the country. Attaching the ‘anti-gay complaint’ seems to have got the MSM talking about it, but is this an issue that needs addressing? Is this the biggest issue facing gay youth in this country? Why has this become the ‘story de jour’?
Whilst gay men are still getting murdered, whilst the Transexual community have to fight for any right, especially legal recognition. Whilst gay, bisexual, lesbian and transexual youth are killing themselves in such huge numbers in new zealand, is this story a ‘fight needed’?
BUT THE REAL QUESTION IS WHAT IS HOPED TO BE ACHIEVED BY ATTACKING ‘PUBLIC’ BAR? SO GAY PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO PASH IN TACKY BARS? THAT PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION BY GAY PEOPLE WILL INCREASE AND THIS WILL STOP SUICIDE? THAT GAY PEOPLE KISSING IN PUBLIC WILL END GAY MEN BEING MURDERED AND ‘THE GAY PANIC’ DEFENSE BEING USED?
WHILE THIS CAMPAIGN SEEMS FOCUSED ON ONE MANS ACTIONS IN ONE BAR, I REFUSE TO SUPPORT IT, AS IT HAS NO FOCUS AND WILL ACHIEVE WHAT?
UPDATE – HOW UNSURPRISING UNI Q GAVE THEM ‘ADVICE’. BAD AS PER USUAL FROM THAT GROUP. AND I JUST DO NOT GIVE MY MONEY TO BARS WITH SECOND RATE STAFF WHO DO NOT WANT GAY MONEY. THAT WORKS AS WELL.

hi steve. I was there and know a few people who work at the bar and who go to the bar and it was not just a kiss that got them booted out as i have seen plenty of lesbians kissing in that bar, a member of my family even, and the 2 girls were not kicked out for kissing. as an ex bouncer, i too would have kicked them out for standing and sitting on a table that people eat from and I am sick of social media blowing situations out of proportion. This is nothing to do with gay rights, this is 2 pissy girls making a big deal out of nothing.
i think there is more going on here than is obvious, uni q being involved makes my blood run cold, i am not sure pashing in a tacky courtney place bar at 3am is a right i care about, although I know many do. my point is and still is that i am tired of what stories the main stream media choose to cover about the gay community, which so often seem petty and whinge filled. and also getting stories off social media is wrong and needs to end. x thanks for posting
