‘American Horror Story’ To Compete In MiniSeries Category At 2012 Emmy Awards.
And it shall win everything. As it should.
FX’s freshman drama American Horror Story is stealing a page from the Downton Abbey playbook by submitting itself in the miniseries category for this year’s Emmy race.
The network announced Friday that while the horror drama from Ryan Murphy and Brad Fulchuk can compete in the drama category, it will vie for the gold in the category that is typically populated by miniseries from the likes of HBO. Because AHS is an anthology — meaning, it was designed to change casts and stories every season — it qualifies as a miniseries in the eyes of the TV Academy.
