WATCH – The Best Speeches After Winning An Oscar Ever.
SOME I SAW AT THE TIME. SOME I KNEW FROM LEGEND AND TRACKED DOWN AND WATCHED WHEN I COULD FIND THEM. ALL ARE REAL. FIND THE CONTEXT YOURSELF, ESPECIALLY FOR THE HYPOCRISY OF THE CHARLIE CHAPLIN STANDING OVATION. HOW SOON THEY FORGET.
ALWAY RUTH TO START. SHE WAS 72. FUCK, SHE LOOKED GREAT.
WHY SHE WON.
HOW ANNOYED I WAS WITH MY FIRST SWEEP IN 1975 THAT I HAD NOT SEEN THE FILM. BEING ONLY 10, AND AS THE FILM WAS R18 IN NZ I WAS NOT ALLOWED. I SO LOVED LOUISE FLETCHER’S SPEECH. I WAS OBSESSED WITH HELEN KELLER AND WHEN SHE SIGNED I BURST INTO TEARS TO SEE SIGN ON TV. IT DID NOT HAPPEN OFTEN. SHE IS A WONDERFUL ACTOR.
WHY SHE WON.
THIS NIGHT. THIS CLASSIC NIGHT OF BULLSHIT AND…….
The 44th Academy Awards ceremony: Chaplin’s second Oscar was awarded forty-three years after his first, in 1972. Chaplin came out of exile to accept the Honorary Award for “the incalculable effect he has had in making motion pictures the art form of this century”. Stepping onto the stage of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Chaplin received the longest standing ovation in Academy Award history, lasting a full twelve minutes.
HOW THEY HAD REJECTED, HATED AND VILIFIED HIM.
WHY HE WON. WHY HE SHOULD HAVE WON SO MUCH MORE. HE WAS AN AMAZING FILM MAKER AND SO MANY OF HIS FILMS REALLY ARE MODERN CLASSICS.

Love Chaplin ! Couldn’t agree more,… I really wish the Oscars wasn’t so biggotted . I swear to whatever God is listening, I only watch for the fashion and to laugh and the ridiculous wins,… If Hugo has a huge win this year I will be so annoyed. It was such a rip off of all those fabulous European movies like Amelie – and I really don’t see why Martin Scorsese should be honoured for taking OTHER peoples ideas and putting 3D over the top,…
Gross.
